Is a site welfare calculator a legal requirement?
Not the calculator itself — but the facilities are. Under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and CDM 2015, every construction site must provide adequate toilets, washing facilities and rest areas for the people working there. This tool applies the same HSE ratios inspectors reference, so you can plan the right provision before you order.
How accurate is this calculator?
It uses the published ratios from BS 6465-1:2006 and the Approved Code of Practice tables to the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 — the standards HSE guidance is built on. It’s a reliable starting point for planning your site welfare, but every project is different, so treat the result as guidance rather than a formal risk assessment.
What if my site has more than 100 people?
The published HSE tables this calculator uses stop at 100 people, so above that we don’t estimate. Call 01375 398 398 or email us and Davlav’s team will work out a tailored welfare plan for your site.
