Static Welfare Unit Hire
Standalone & self-contained welfare facilities for long-term projects
Static Welfare Unit Hire
A static welfare unit is a standalone, self-contained, compact and capable way of providing adequate welfare facilities to staff in areas where mains services are not available and there is a need for long-term use.
These static welfare units are designed to be robust and secure providing vandal resistant accommodation. They are usually spacious and well-equipped, featuring a diesel tank and a generator, since static welfare units are purpose-built for sites without water and electricity.
Since it remains stationary (or ‘static’) for the duration of its use, cost-effectiveness is the key advantage of a static welfare unit. Additionally, since it doesn’t need to be moved it can accommodate bigger fuel tanks, bigger generators, and generally accommodate more people.
A small static welfare unit accommodates 8 people, while the larger and more versatile units (such as the SWO7600 Standard Static Unit) have seating for up to 12 people. These can be designed to fit more people if you place a custom order.
‘Self-contained’ means it is offered as a complete welfare facility having all that is needed, within. This includes:
- Sanitation facilities for 8 or 10 people (depending on the size of your static welfare unit hire)
- Access to fresh drinking water
- Accommodation for changing and drying clothes
- Canteen area
- Kitchenette
In addition, mobile welfare units often come equipped with the following features, which are good to have:
- Anti-vandalism system
- Eco-friendly features to reduce running costs & carbon footprint
- Supplied with a current electrical installation test certificate
- Power generator
- Recirculating plumbing
When hiring static welfare units it is important to ensure they are fully HSE compliant, approved for use on the UK rail network and meet CDM 2015 requirements.
This means their configuration complies with the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) that make it mandatory for employers to provide ‘adequate’ and appropriate welfare facilities to their employees while they are at work as per the requirements of the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992.
The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015) outline duties that apply to any individual or organisation that carries out a construction project as part of a business, and is supported by the HSE.
